- conclusion - Our two largest areas of impact, natural gas and electricity, continue to motivate us towards improvement. Persisting in our journey into renewable energy will have a large effect on our carbon footprint. The data in this study was compiled without consideration for our newly installed solar arrays, due to limited data availability. We look forward to seeing how this affects our carbon footprint. We will continue to incorporate solar panels into our facilities in the future, as well as look for other opportunities for renewable energy. Natural gas fits into a larger category for us: fuel. As we move forward, we anticipate exploring research into fuel efficiency, fuel type, and equipment efficiency to reduce our overall fuel consumption including natural gas. Examining more efficient modes of farming and farming equipment can help us reduce amount of time equipment is needed in the field—thus reducing fuel consumption. Switching to different types of fuel, as we have done with our trucks and kilns in the past can help reduce harmful emissions. And, looking into future opportunities to replace or modify processing equipment such as kilns with more efficient models can offer a huge opportunity for improvement. We are committed to researching viable opportunities to reduce our environ- mental impact and improve the lives of our employees and community. As we explore large impact areas like fuel usage, we will continue to invest in renewable energy and take advantage smaller, simpler adjustments such as switching office products and encouraging recycling.
