WATER AT ROY FARMS Arguably, our greatest and most essential resource is water. Conservation and preservation are the key to managing our water. Conservation means assuring that we are applying enough for our crops to thrive, but not in excess. Excess is not only wasteful, but runoff can leach nutrients from the soil and deposit them in other water sources. Using drip irrigation helps us focus applications and limit runoff. A growing percentage of our fields are armed with real-time moisture sensors and over 15% of our fields are equipped with next generation proprietary irrigation technology. Awareness of our water usage is the first step towards improvement. Preservation means assuring our water is clean and mitigating contamination. Participating in programs like Salmon Safe, limiting runoff, and conducting annual testing of our water sources helps us ensure that our water is coming in clean and going out clean. PAGE 32
